How to add a bot to a LINE group chat
Adding Pood Thai to a group works exactly like adding a person, with one catch that trips up almost everyone.
Last updated September 17, 2026
Two steps
- ·Add Pood Thai as a friend. Tap the Add on LINE button anywhere on this site. This is the catch: LINE only lets you invite accounts that are already in your friends list, so this has to happen first.
- ·Invite it to the group. Open the group, choose Invite from the menu, and pick Pood Thai - the same way you would add a person.
That is it. It starts translating the next message anyone sends, in both directions, for everyone in the chat.
What the bot can see
- ·Messages posted in chats it has been added to, after it was added.
- ·Not your other chats, your friends list, or your account details.
- ·Not the group's history from before it joined.
What it does with the messages it does receive is set out in the privacy policy.
Add Pood Thai to your group
20 free translations a day, no signup. Add it as a friend, then invite it to the chat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the bot not show up in my invite list?
Add it as a LINE friend first. The invite screen only lists accounts already in your friends list, so add Pood Thai, then reopen the invite screen.
Can I add it to a group I did not create?
Usually yes. LINE lets any member invite others by default, unless the group was set up so only the creator can invite.
Does everyone in the group need to install it?
No. One person adds it and everyone in the chat gets the translations. Nobody else installs anything, signs up, or pays.
Can the bot read messages sent before it joined?
No. It only receives messages posted after it was added to the chat.
How do I remove it from a group?
Open the member list and remove it exactly as you would remove a person. It stops receiving messages from that chat immediately.
