LINE translation bot for Thai and English
LINE is the default way Thailand communicates, and if you do not read Thai, most of what matters to you scrolls past untranslated. A translation bot fixes that from inside the chat instead of making you switch apps.
What a LINE translation bot actually is
A LINE bot is an official account you add the same way you add a person. Once it is in a chat, LINE forwards the messages posted there to the bot, and the bot can post back. A translation bot uses that to do one job: read each message, work out what language it is in, and post the other language underneath.
The important part is where the translation appears. It lands in the chat itself, as a normal message, visible to everyone. That is the difference between a bot and a translation app: an app translates for you, a bot translates for the conversation.
How it works in practice
- ·You add the bot as a LINE friend. One tap, no account needed.
- ·You invite it to a group chat, or message it directly for one-off translations.
- ·Somebody writes in Thai. The bot posts the English underneath within a second or two.
- ·You reply in English. The bot posts the Thai, and the Thai speakers in the chat read that instead.
Nobody has to change how they type. Your Thai colleagues and family keep writing Thai, you keep writing English, and the chat carries both. That is what makes it stick where a shared "everyone please write in English" rule does not.
The same bot behaves differently in a DM
Pood Thai does two different jobs depending on where you talk to it. In a group chat you get the translation alone, posted as a reply quoting the message it belongs to. In a direct message you also get the Paiboon+ phonetic spelling with tone marks, so you can say the Thai out loud:
Phonetics are left out of groups on purpose - a second line under every message would make a busy chat unreadable. So the DM becomes the place you work out how to phrase something, and the group stays clean. More in how to say something in Thai.
What to look for in a translation bot
It should handle how people actually write
Thai chat messages are not textbook Thai. They are full of particles (ครับ, ค่ะ, นะ), shortened spellings, English words written in Thai script, and slang that generic translators turn into nonsense. A bot built for Thai specifically will read ได้ครับ เตรียมเอกสารเสร็จแล้ว as "Okay, I have finished preparing the documents" rather than a literal word salad.
It should be fast enough to keep up
A chat moves. If a translation lands thirty seconds after the message, the group has already moved on and you are reading history. In-chat translation only works if it is close to instant.
You should know what it keeps
You are handing it your family and work chats, so the retention policy matters more than the marketing. Check what any bot stores, for how long, and who can read it. Ours is set out in the privacy policy.
Bot versus copying into a translator
Most people start by copying Thai messages into Google Translate. It works, and it is free, and it is also six taps per message with the app-switch in the middle. The cost is not accuracy, it is that you stop bothering. You skim the group, decide nothing looks urgent, and miss the message about the water being shut off tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a LINE translation bot?
It is an official LINE account you add to a chat like a friend. It reads the messages posted in that chat and replies with a translation, so nobody has to leave LINE or paste text into another app.
Does a translation bot work in LINE group chats?
Yes. Once one member invites the bot to the group, it translates messages for everyone in that group. The other members do not need to install anything or create an account.
Can the bot see my other LINE chats?
No. A LINE bot only receives messages from chats it has been added to. It has no visibility into your other conversations, your contacts, or your LINE account.
Is there a free LINE translation bot for Thai?
Pood Thai gives you 20 translations a day free with no signup and no credit card. Premium removes the daily cap.
Which languages does Pood Thai handle?
Thai and English, in both directions. Keeping it to one language pair is deliberate: the translation prompt is written for Thai and English specifically, and tells the model to preserve slang and politeness rather than spread thin across dozens of languages.
